Tripura MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury, two others injured in road mishap
Three persons, including Tripura’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury, sustained injuries after a vehicle collided with the MLA’s vehicle at Champaknagar in West Tripura district on Saturday.
The mishap occurred while Chowdhury was on his way to Agartala to attend a political event. Chowdhury’s driver and personal security officer also sustained minor injuries.
They were rushed to the Gobind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital in Agartala.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, BJP president Rajib Bhattacharya, former chief minister and Lok Sabha candidate for West constituency Biplab Kumar Deb and other legislators and party activists visited Chowdhury at the hospital.
“I got concerned after seeing pictures of the damaged vehicle on social media. The vehicle was badly damaged. By God’s grace, he is fine. His driver and PG, who also got injuries, are fine. I talked to the doctors. They will provide the best treatment to them,” Saha said after meeting the injured.
“I pray to God for their speedy recovery. The health infrastructure in the GBP Hospital is quite good and we hope that he will recover soon,” said Rajib Bhattacharya.
Deb said, “I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he joins party activities and works for people soon.”
Chowdhury is legislator of the Kalyanpur constituency in Khowai district.
